Crazy week…

So, after thinking, praying & reading your comments on my last post, I felt like I needed to call Jim and make sure he knew about the musical.  I called tonight & he said he didn’t know anything about it.  I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, but I am pretty sure he was lying about that, but anyway… I told him about it & he said he was going to come.

So, Zach gets home… he says “I need to call dad about the musical”  I said, “yes, you do, I told you to do that a month ago”.

Of course he doesn’t remember that I said that!

GRRRR!!!!

Anyway, I did my part… micromanaged…. uhg, uhg, uhg.

Of course at this point there are no good seat available & they will have to sit on the sides…

WHY DO I HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING FOR EVERYONE!!??!!

I told him he should tell his family… I doubt any of them will come.

I have no relationship with his mom.  She is actually much worse off than he even is, and the root of many of his issues.  His dad passed away many years ago of cancer.  It’s very difficult to explain without giving many gory details, but sometimes people are just not “safe” people to be in relationship with… does that make any sense?

Zach isn’t feeling well, he has a cold, at least I hope it’s only a cold.  There is construction going on at the school that has had his sinus’s clogged for a while.  He thought it was wax in his ear making so he couldn’t hear, I kept telling him I thought it was fluid.  He had the school nurse look at it today & she agrees with me.  So, he’s taking some allergy meds & hopefully will pull out of it quickly.

Kiahna is having good days at school!!!  SO HAPPY for that!!!

Tonight she was working on her phone number, she’s been working on it for quite awhile, and she just doesn’t get it.  FAS can make learning incredibly difficult, sometimes I just don’t know if she will “get” things.  I decided to put the number to music & she got it!!!!  We sang it about 100 times tonight!  Tomorrow I hope I can remember the tune, I tried to make it simple & put it to Mary had a little lamb, but it didn’t flow, so I am not sure what song it is to the tune of!

Yesterday I got my new washer & dryer… oh my!!!  As of now everything in the house is washed!!!  LOVE the larger loads!!!!!  MAYBE I won’t have to live with HUGE piles of laundry constantly laying on my laundry room floor!!!!

I also got my new sump pump & back up sump pump… which isn’t nearly as exciting…but just about as costly…

The basement is slowly going back together, I am throwing lots of stuff away & giving lots away!

My water heater might be leaking & my brakes might be squeaking… but I am out of money so they both need to hold on for awhile!!

The next 3 nights we will be at the musical each night… I am taking both girls out of school tomorrow after lunch for Kiahna’s counseling and swim suit shopping for Leah…

DID I MENTION THAT WE LEAVE FOR FLORIDA IN A LITTLE OVER  WEEK!!!??!!!

How I spent my tax check

It was my very first tax check since being divorced…

I had this idea to re-do my living room… replace my 15 year old furniture with something new & pretty…

Add some color to the blah….

My sister & I went and purchased a very cool chair from Pier 1, got a lamp & end table on sale & a bunch of awesome throw pillows!

So much fun!  We shopped & shopped for couches, chair 1/2’s, ottomans, searched for just the right one for my house… found it… great price!

Then the basement flooded…

Now I have a deductible to meet.

I need a back up sump pump, I also need a new regular sump pump.

I have a brother-in-law who can do the work for me on those things.

Then the dryer broke.

I had been given a used washer a month or so ago, my washer had broken then.

So… I spent my tax check… all in one week… not to mention my savings account…

I am blessed to have the cash to pay for it all.  For that I am very, very thankful.

I just didn’t get to spend it quite like I was hoping to… oh well.

The Blog will go on…

Hey everyone!  As you already know I am with my family this week at the lake!  But no fear of missing me to much!  I have a few posts written in advance (like this one!) to keep the blog hopping!!  Check back the next couple days when I have something I’d be willing to guess you all thought I forgot all about, to share with you!

If you know about Twitter you know you can follow along on our vacation there!  You are welcome to come and stalk follow along!  :)  See the left sidebar for the recent posts if you don’t have twitter, and click on the bottom link below the last showing twitter post to read more.  140 characters at a time!

Last week as we were packing to leave, there was no shortage of dullness!  James’ car overheated, and ended up being junked.  So, I was driving him in to work at 6:30 (IN THE SUMMER, I know, gasp!) and picking him up again at 5.

I wasn’t in a real hurry to find something new for him.  I was a little annoyed at his attitude.  But, God had a different plan.  He blessed us with a car that was close by, exactly the right color and make we needed.  AND $3000 below blue book value!!  We are feeling very blessed, and James is feeling very poor.  Although he loves his new 1999 Nissan Altima!  (I'll post a picture one day)

Lucas broke a toe.  Zach left a set of dumb bells laying on the basement floor.  Jadon threw something at Lucas.  Lucas got up to chase him down.  Lucas’ toes meet dumb bells.  Dumb bells win.

I took him in to have it x-rayed.  Because his foot was swelled and blue.  Had to make sure it wasn’t his foot!  It is not his foot!  (Praise the Lord!) He is in some pain, but I can tell already (Saturday morning) that it is better.  He isn’t using James’ crutches anymore!  He’ll be limited by the pain on what he can do behind the boat this week though.  Bummer.

Our lack of routine & packing is making us all a little wacky!  More arguing than I’d like to endure!!  But, we will make it!  And we will all come home next weekend relaxed and tanned!  With lots of memories & pictures!

Have a great week!  fyi, i think the only internet access I will have this week is from my cell phone, so yeah… it will be a vacation for sure!

YOUR gonna miss this… moment…week 7

YGMT...moment 2

Today I am thinking that there is surely a greater purpose to writing these posts than I ever intended.

Sometimes it is hard to look back on a really difficult week and find anything to treasure.  Is there really anything about this week that I can go back and say… “yeah, one day I am pretty sure I am going to miss that…”

I am thankful that even though Jadon is my most challenging child, he is also full of spunk and personality that just saves his life, makes him such a joy to have around.

We took that 4-wheeler ride last night.  Kiahna came too.  It was much colder this time!  And we found more huge leaves!

In fact this leaf has been declared, “The Huge-monquousest leaf EVER!”

We tried pressing one, but couldn’t find a book big enough…

Kiahna didn’t want to be in the picture with her leaf.

I look around at the piles of laundry, the endless dishes, the dirty floor, the shoes, the papers, the stuff… and it is hard to imagine missing all that…  what I know I’ll miss is that when those things aren’t there anymore, it means they aren’t here anymore.

Sinks full of dishes =  many of the people I love most together for dinner.

Piles of laundry =  my children cozy in their own beds, where I know they are all safe and out of danger.

Papers = they are receiving a good education.  they are happy and healthy and smart and active!

The shoes… the stuff… all evidence that many people live in this house… and there is never a shortage of activity, noise, love, or laughs…

After discussing with Jadon the “Good Behavior” Chart and praising him for how well he had done, he stated… “yeah, I am really good, when I am sleeping.”

I needed that laugh!

He cracks me up.

SO TEACH ME LORD JESUS, TO SEE THE MUNDANE MESSES AS THE BLESSING THAT THEY CAN BE… HELP ME TO TREASURE THESE DAYS OF OVERWHELMING NOISE AND ACTIVITY… AND THANK YOU FOR THROWING IN ENOUGH LOVE AND LAUGHS TO MAKE THE MUNDANE FADE INTO THE BACKGROUND… MOSTLY…

Let’s lighten the mood…

I hope that I am not sending you into fits of depression as you read these entries.  It’s been eerily quiet here today.  When no one responds it makes me sit here going, “Okay, what did I say wrong?”  Responses make this fun!  If you don’t have anything to say that is fine too, or if you are crazily busy and have a life and don’t spend countless hours obsessing over what to type on blogs and wondering if you are insane for what you are saying, not that I think that or anything, I’m just saying I know you are all busy too!

Things are crazy busy here.  Zach is away at Basketball camp all week. I was planning to go with some other parents on the 2 1/2 hour trip to pick up the boys that went on Thursday.  I asked my dad to go for me.  I am getting too busy and won’t get things done like I want if I go.  (don’t tell me that if I didn’t spend so much time on my computer I’d have time to go.  That’s probably the truth, but I love the time on my computer and feel very driven to write.  So, I fit it in.)

James is working his little tail off.  He is planning to have friends over on Friday night for a bonfire/volleyball/birthday celebration.  He told me that he invited 75 people over his facebook account.  But, he thinks it will only be about 30.  Well, this ole mom has learned from the last time.  I ain't gonna panic.  25 turned out to only be 7... so let's hope for 10!

At any rate, it has inspired him to work on the house!

DSC04979

He is working and learning for a landscaping company this summer!  He spread 2 loads of mulch, trimmed the bushes, planted some grass, sprayed weeks, and fixed up the bon fire pit!  All that came at the cost, of course, of his siblings having to help... and they were so helpful...

DSC04978

Doesn't he look helpful?  I guess I'd be frustrated too!  No wonder Zach was so excited to leave for camp!

I haven't worked on my kitchen cabinets since it about sent me over the edge and I had to run away on Saturday.  I experimented with two of the insides and I think that it will work.  Now to find the time without going crazy to do it!

Monday morning Leah woke up with a sore throat.  She has strep.  Took the dog in to the vet.  He is now fixed.  Didn't even attempt to explain that one to Jadon!  I can't even begin to imagine the questions that would come up!  All he knows is that Jack got shots and he can't pick him up or get him wet for two weeks!

That black hair ball is him.  Yes, he is in need of a haircut too.

My mom has planned our annual cousin trip to the zoo for tomorrow.  I am sure that there will be 2 billion people there and it will be 295 degrees.  I need to find a better attitude before 8 am in the morning!  Great, light blogging material though!  Seventeen kids at the zoo with 5 adults, no problem.

We are almost done watching the entire Anne of Green Gables series!!  Loving it!!  Tonight we should finish it up.  Summer is fun!  So nice not to have to get up early.
