YOUR Gonna Miss This…Moment… Week 37

YGMT...moment 2

Wow.  At the end of an extremely busy summer day, I about want to opt out of putting up this post today!  Summer is so much fun, and so exhausting!!  What a wonderful combination!

I would love to challenge each of you to join me this week and all summer long in capturing moments that we want to remember forever.  Summertime is full of them and we are just headed into a summer full of them!  I would be so excited if many more of you joined my regular, faithful friends who join me in this!  Instructions will be at the end of this post.

Baseball.  Staying up late.  Zoo trips.  Cedar Point. Friends over.  Cousins.  Work.  Conditioning.  sleeping in.  Summer…

Our summer vacation just started this past Wednesday… already we have done each of the things mentioned above.  (well, some of us have)

James is working for a landscaping company.  He will work almost every day, until August, when football will start.  In the evenings he will either hang out with friends, or be conditioning for football.  The other night he rode his four-wheeler over to his friend’s house.  It started to rain, and he rode it home in the rain.  He came in dripping… I took his picture… and he posed…

Cute, huh…

Zach won’t be doing too much work.  Work for me, and mowing at a neighbor’s house.  Conditioning with the football & the basketball team… while trying to (against his will) let his knee heal.  Spending as much time with friends as he can, and finishing his baseball season up.  He went to Cedar Point yesterday with the whole 8th grade.  Today grandpa took him and his cousin and 2 friends to a baseball game in Cincinnati.  Cubs vs. Reds.  Zach wore his Cubs shirt.  I’ve mentioned before we are in a hard age, we could use your prayers.

random shot.

Leah made cheerleading, so I know her summer will involve some of that, I just don’t know what yet.  She has begged every day since school was out for friends to come over.  I expect it to continue daily…

Lucas is playing ball a lot these days!  As we make up rained out games we have been to the diamonds three nights this week!  I finally remembered my camera!

Check out the smile he flashed me after he hit and made it to first!!  (fence is so annoying!!)

Jadon got a hair cut…

He adores it.  I could do without it.  He is cute though.  Today at the zoo he was so funny!  He was afraid of the goats!  He is never afraid of things… goats. yup.  He went in and out of the pen 3 times, but he did keep at it and did conquer his fear!

DSC02420

Today at the zoo was the first time I believe we went strollerless! I love it!  I DONT miss pushing a stroller in a crowded place!  NOT AT ALL!!  Kiahna was a good girl.  Mostly.  Her ability to have a boundary with strangers is not very good.  Patting people, taking popcorn, kicking a stroller… needs boundaries.  Bad.

DSC02397

It is a yearly tradition for my mom to take us all to the zoo one day of the summer.  My sister’s baby is due in about a week, so she wanted to go before it is born.  I have always really been stressed out by going to the zoo with all the kids.  It is always so hot & crowded.

Today, though, I really enjoyed it.  It was crowded, very crowded, but it was such gorgeous high 70’s sunny, breezy weather that it was not even that annoying!  And my kids are getting older, so it was not quite as difficult to do this with them!!  I could actually say I will miss this, at these older ages!!

Too many moments to choose just one!!  What a great day!  I’m gonna miss it all!!

Zoo trip #3 and more...

Well, we were at the zoo today.  It was HOT.  It wasn’t crowded though.  Probably had something to do with the fact that it was HOT!  We were there a total of 5 minutes before my camera battery went dead…

I got two pictures…count ‘em.  2.  I actually took 4, but two were bad.  Yes, worse than this one.  (Jadon and Lucas)

At least it wasn’t crowded!  Last year we went on Zoo Member Appreciation Day.  HOT with 18 kids to keep track of!  Not the best of times!  Today went pretty good though.

Afterwards, we went to return some shoes I bought last week at the mall.  Leah asked if we could see a movie.  We have been wanting to see the new American Girl Movie, Kit Kittredge.  So we did!

kitkittredge_poster

This is a really good movie!  Rated G, for one, which is such a rare find.  The setting and character were like the books, but the plot was not based off of much that was in the original books about Kit.  It normally bugs me when movies do that.  This was so well done that I didn’t even care!  I recommend this movie, especially as we tighten our belts a little with the high gas prices and the rise of food and other things that are coming with it.  (did you see the price of cheese?)  This is set in the depression and the reality of the day is very well portrayed.   I heard another mom say that it made her feel kind of bad to spend so much money to see the movie and then see how they were living back then and were in such need.  I agree with her, and will see it at the dollar theatre next time!

We have had some run-ins with bodily fluids.  As my babies turn 4 and 5 this fall… I wonder… when will it end?  Will this truly be something I will miss?   Somehow I have my doubts.

Last night Kiahna was laughing so hard in bed, she began choking and threw up all over the bed.  For a moment I hoped feared we would have to stay home from the zoo.  No, she was fine and still giggling as I hosed off the sheets outside in the dark, with the mosquitoes.

On the way to the zoo.  Driving through a bad part of town, they both had to pee.  Jadon so bad that I fished a Pepsi bottle from the trash and let him pee in it. (this is the second time I have let him do this and I think that he thinks it is fun!)  I was at a stop light and was holding the bottle for him.  Of course the light turned green and I ended up with pee on my hands and on him.

Kiahna could wait until we got there, but was dancing and begging to go in the parking lot.  After a short debate over what to do, run to the zoo where the restrooms are inside after you pay, let her pee her pants, or let her squat behind a tree.  Squat behind a tree won.

In the movie theatre I took Jadon to the restroom and he peed on his clothes.  Shirt and shorts.

On the way home he fell asleep and peed in his car seat.

He really has been doing much better than this!  AHHH!!  He’s almost 5.  I won’t miss this.  I know I won't.  It's funny.  Now.  But, I won't miss it.

Still working on Kiahna's yarn braids.  Not doing new parts this time.  Taking out one at a time and rebraiding it.  I am out of yarn now, so after another trip to Walmart, hopefully we can declare it done again soon!

Trying not to stress over James friends he has coming over this weekend.  I really don't want to be any more of an embarrassment to him than we already obviously have the full potential to be unless none of us are here, which we will be.  It would be nice to have a house that doesn't look like hillybillys children live here.

Don't you sometimes wish you could live in a house that stayed clean for more than 2.4 seconds.  Or that was all clean at once?  Like the old days when I wasn't a single mom of 6 children and could actually do things like that?  It did happen every once in awhile.  Now, it feels like it will never happen again.  I do much better when I accept that and go on.  But, when faced with company...  CHAOS becomes the name of the game.  FLY LADY calls CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) because your house is such a disaster.  I've climbed back on the Fly Lady wagon, but I don't know that I will ever accomplish getting out of CHAOS.  Oh well.  Praying that I can work hard and then let it go after that.  (without yelling and becoming out of control!)  GRACE!!!!

Zoo, Again…

Yesterday we traveled to Indianapolis to visit the zoo!  We have never been to that zoo, and it was quite a treat!  The weather was warm and beautiful and everyone was in pretty good moods, at least until close to the end!!

Teens had good attitudes.  Jadon was great!  Leah and Lucas are always agreeable, except when they are not!  LOL!!  Kiahna had a rougher time of things, once again.  But, we survived.

Jadon, Lucas, and Kiahna (cheese!!!) siting on a rock...

James helping with Kiahna...  he did very well yesterday.  Had a good attitude and did a great job of driving us there and home.  We only got lost twice!  And I was the one with the directions... note to self... next time I mapquest how to get somewhere... mapquest how to get back home from there too!!  AHH!!

Jadon was chosen to help give commands at the dolphin show!  We sat in the splash zone and he loved getting wet!  He was disappointed when there was a splash and he didn’t get any of it!  After his time up front, he was much more satisfied with his level of wetness!!

And for $1 Jadon got to feed the giraffe a piece of some food!  It was worth it!  He was a little intimidated by that big long tongue!!
