2010 Swimming Sectionals: VIDEO

I have video!!  It might be a little hard to watch…seems the videographer was a little distracted and didn’t pay attention to where her camera was pointed all the time… she also tends to yell a little into the camera… so you may want to turn it down….

Race #1 is the consolation heat of the 50 free.  James cut more time and ended up with 2nd place in the consolation heat (that means no ribbon, recognition, & like 8th place over all)  James is the one of the left.  Mac M, also from AC, is the one right next to him (in the matching caps).

The only race James made it to the final heat in was the 200 M Freestyle Relay.  James is swimmer #2.  They cut time again, and ended up in 3rd place (after being seated at 5th)  The ribbon ceremony is at the end.  This was the best finish any AC swimmers had that day.  It was great to see them going out with time being cut & doing their best!  Only place #1 goes on to state swimming, so swimming is over for James.

Senior Night: Swimming Edition

Tonight was “senior night” for the swim team.

James started throwing up yesterday a the end of the school day.

Threw up multiple times throughout the evening (no pictures, your welcome)

So I got to go to his college financial aid meeting without him.

He didn’t throw up today though.

Stayed home most of the day today until 2:00 so he could go and be recognized at Senior Night.

His dad came.

Didn’t get to see him swim.

That didn’t make me giggle just a little today.  Nope, Not me.  Not today.

So then I left and went to watch Zach play basketball…

The attitude still needs work.

The game is great when he wants it to be.

The got creamed.

Life is good.

I didn’t even push HSSH in the pool.  And I really thought that would be a good idea.

Temper tantrums? 

Nope.

Angry Children?

Nope.

Icy Days off of School that have to me made up?

Nope.

Taking kids to counseling & praying they are healed?

Nope.

What will I miss from this past week?

Um.

Um.

There was this from last weekend.

If you don’t count the horrid temper tantrum (not by me) on the way there.  It was a nice time.

Fun times with the whole family at the hotel!

I will miss that!

YOUR Gonna Miss This… Moment 65

Welcome to another week of capturing moments that one day we know we will miss!  Have you played along?  MckMama unknowingly did this week!  I invited her to come over and link up!  We will see!  How this carnival would grow if she promoted this & joined in! 

I was reminded when I read MckMama’s “I’m Gonna Miss This” post, just why I began this carnival.  And I realized that lately I’ve lost focus of that meaning. 

It’s not so much about having something profoundly entertaining or insightful to share.  It is about taking the time each week to pause.  Focus.  And realize that while life seems to be going at the speed of light, if we are not intentional we will be there in body but miss it.

So… what do I have this week to share?  I spent almost 2 hours talking yesterday to my counselor friend.  Our time was over and we  hadn’t even prayed like we usually do.  Each one of my kids (some more than others) has a list of concerns currently.  Each one is enough load in itself, added together.  Overwhelming.  I need to pray.  I need to stay focused on WHERE my help comes from.  I DO NOT possess the strength, mental energy, wisdom to deal with any of this.  I need God’s help so badly.  I am so glad He gives it.

Another thing that MckMama has began doing is “stream of consciousness” posts… I find that amusing, as I realize I do those quite often!  Just pouring it all out as the thoughts come rather than spending lots of time trying to “say the right thing”

I hope you join me this week… spend some time thinking about what you have going on that you need to pause and treasure for a moment… you will be glad you did.

This week… I watched James win a really, really close race… a race that was against  Ben, an old friend of his, who used to go to our school, and who is an amazing swimmer.  James began his leg of the 400 yard (the last leg) with almost a whole length of the pool lead.  The last swimmer for their team was Ben.  I knew James was going to need all the lead he could get.  Ben is way amazing.

My heart was racing and my throat was sore from yelling!  It was so awesome that he held Ben off & won!  It was really looking like it wasn’t going to happen.  James said he was saving some energy for that last length, and it turned out to be enough! 

Yeah!!!

Leah turned 13 last Sunday!  We went out to eat with my parents & Tried to get some pictures with my old camera…

The “good side” of the table…

  The “other side” of the table… It’s so easy to spend my time hyper-focused on their behavior rather than just enjoying it.  Can’t say that I’ve done a real good job at that lately.  Something I am going to try to relax about.

Needing to refocus. 

Needing to pause.

Needing to treasure this time.

Wind Water & Shopping

It is so windy today that my dog is barking at the fireplace! 

We drove home in slush last night.  Only one small step up from ice.  Going 30 mph it about pulled me off the road twice.

Thankful Zach wasn’t driving in it.

He will have to go out and get experience in the winter weather, but it won’t be dark with a van full of family when he does!  (and I won’t be with him if I can help it!!!)

James diving career took off with a splash last week… it’s been a little more challenging since then. 

In fact last night he tried a dive of higher difficulty.

It didn’t go so well.

It was a “failed dive”, so he ended up in last place. (out of 3 divers)

I missed Zach’s game on Monday night & Leah’s cheering… shopping ya know!

I hope to see & get photos of Zach tomorrow night.

So far this is about the best we could do.

He is dressing JV…

He’s trying to mask his excitement. 

He’s dressed 3 JV Games and played 43 seconds.

Another C-Team game coming up Thursday & Friday nights though!

Weather permitting.

Christmas shopping is going pretty well!  Making some things this week & trying to get organized to see what gifts we still need to find!

Don’t Blow Away!!

I didn’t think he could dive…

Who knew?

Not me.

So, when he came home a few weeks ago and told me that he was going to dive this year.

I honestly didn’t think too much about it.

He’s never dove before.

Figured he wouldn’t do to well.

Yet another lesson learned from my children.

You never know how good you will be at something if you never try.

You could go in to your first diving meet of the year and win first place.

Who knows?
